Getting Kids Involved in Nutrition Problems Early December 14, 2014

Teaching the children about nutrition and healthy eating at their early
age is the most effective way of ensuring that they adopt good
nutrition practice throughout their life. At the young age, the children
have not been exposed to the misleading information out there. As a
parent, if you set good example and make the children understand the
importance of taking some certain things and avoiding others, you can
give them long lasting impression that will guide them asthey grow and
probably throughout their entire life.

Teaching kids when they have already grown up may be quite challenging.
For example, last year when many schools in the United States
introduced and implemented new lunch guidelines many students protested
that move. The children were greatly opposed to the move such that many
school districts had to re-evaluate their program of implementation.
However, the difficulties and issues that are being faced by the
district schools are more than simply picky eaters. Any district school
that wants to instill healthy lifestyle most the students must implement
nutritional pan which educates beyond and further than the lunch room.

To instill healthy nutrition practice amongst them, kids must be taught
nutrition and health at the young age. The nutrition education must
begin early in the life of the child and must be executed throughout the
child’s educational career. There is bound to be various nutritional
problems and resistance of the education is started at the advanced
stages of life. Mark Twain School, located in Los Angeles is one example
of schools that are doing this. In this school, a garden is used as
catalyst of learning in different subjects such as history and
mathematics. The food which is grown in the school garden is used for
the preparation of lunch for the kids.

According to the many founders, it is unrealistic to expect the
students to make healthy choices when they are in or out of school while
the adults take candy bars, chips and sugary drinks in full ignorance
of the wisdom of eating meals that are well balanced. The teachers
should also be taken through intensive nutrition education. You cannot
teach other people to do what you don’t know. Also, you cannot tell
children the importance of good nutrition practice if you do not know
what it is all about. In short, the combination of nutrition education
coupled with the setting of good examples by those in authority such as
teachers and parents is the ideal way of encouraging the young children
to adopt healthy lifestyle.
